STORIES Around the Globe
by Henrik Eger

The autobiographical stories featured on this page are part of a book in progress about World War II, post-war Germany, and life in Britain, Iran, India, and the U.S.
1. World War II and post-war Germany, followed by Sweden, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, and Greece: Tragic-comic personal events seen through the eyes of Martin, a little boy, who has no idea of what happened and the scenes that he stumbles into. However, as he matures with each new experience, slowly becoming aware of the complexities of life, his naivete gradually disintegrates. For more stories about little Martin, see the dramatized version in The Americans are Coming!

2. Teaching and traveling abroad: Tragic-comic personal events seen through the eyes of a young man who lived in six different countries on three different continents, first as the manager of a book import and publishing company in London, then as a lecturer in English and head of the German department at Kerman University in Iran, as a teacher of creative writing at the Goethe Institute in Tehran, Iran; Mumbai, India; and Colombo, Sri Lanka where he conducted workshops on surreal stories, poems, and dramas for writers in Asia.

3. Life in the U.S.: More tragic-comic personal events seen through the eyes of a professor of English and Communication at four universities and one college in the U.S., a writer who writes stories, satires, poems, dramas, books, theater reviews, articles, and interviews for a wide range of publications in the U.S. and abroad–even entries in English and German for Wikipedia.
